What does WiFi 6 bring to the company?<\/h3>\n

Wireless LAN is an IEEE standard that was originally adopted in 1997. The newest member is called 802.11ax – colloquially also WiFi 6. With this latest WiFi technology everything is faster and even real-time applications in production should work. The first devices are available, so it is worth taking a look at the WLAN standard in the coming years. In the past, WiFi was getting faster, especially since the breakthrough technology that can be traced back to the Linksys WRT-54. Here the maximum speed was 54MBit. Modern WLAN access points of the current generation 802.11ac have a theoretical 1,299MBit, the adjective “theoretical” is important here. The range that has a massive impact on the available WLAN speed must be considered. Faster and better?<\/h3>\n
According to the principle of faster, better and nicer (we also want to sell), WiFi 6 then reaches theoretical 4.8Gbit per client. After all, a modern MacBook Pro creates 1.3Gbit with Wifi 5. In practice (radio can only ever send or receive on the channel band), roughly half of the calculated data rate is reached.<\/div>\n

The advantage is not necessarily the speed, but rather the number of simultaneous connections – keyword IoT. Here significantly more devices deliver a lot of data at the same time. What needs to be considered when switching to Wifi 6?<\/h3>\n
